In 2005, co-founders, John H. Lewis and Kimberly A. Wilkins, established the law firm on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. In 2009, the firm became general counsel to the first full scale production brewery in downtown Indianapolis. In 2011, the law firm was selected by the Governor and Attorney General to defend the Indiana State Fair Commission in mass tort litigation stemming from the Indiana State Fair music stage collapse, which drew national media attention due to dozens of injuries and fatalities. By 2020, the firm’s continual growth in insurance defense, business services, complex litigation, and governmental affairs led to expanded offices in the College Park development of Indianapolis, on Geist Reservoir in Fishers, and in the NoMa district of Washington, D.C. In 2022, Lewis And Wilkins was 4th (tied), of all Indiana law firms, for the most civil jury trials conducted, according to The Indiana Jury Verdict Reporter. The publication ranked the firm 1st (tied) in 2025.
In 2026, the Indiana University – Indianapolis Athletics Department announced a historic partnership renewal with Lewis and Wilkins that was the first major sponsorship for the James T. Morris Arena, an on-campus arena, which is the university’s home for Division I basketball and volleyball. The firm is an ‘official name sponsor’ of the Jaguars through 2028.
